ELEGANTLY SIMPLE
The design was surprisingly elegant and minimalist.
Another shoot with Vanilla Kitchen last week had a custom themed Angelina Ballerina birthday cupcakes and cakes. The clover/flower accents brought out the cake while the chocolate cupcakes framed the detailed toppings perfectly.
Caught a little torch action with another set of cupcakes as well (second to the bottom photo). The award-winning smoke still steaming from just torched icing shot-what did I win? A cupcake…

OUTTAKES PLUS SCREEN SHOTS FROM AMAZON.COM
From a commissioned shoot in late 2009 and early this year. Some of the photos that didn’t make it to the catalog pages are below and surprisingly, found some that made it on Amazon.com (bottom last photo).
If you have some interesting products that needs some attention don’t hesitate to give me a call.

EMBODY- A SOLO PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW BY HEIDI PASQUAL
Just got a text message from my friend and fellow photographer, Heidi Pasqual, on her solo exhibit at Cubao X, Quezon City. The photography show grand opens at 7pm on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at nineteen zero one. That’s 1 floor above Kebab X and it’ll run till December 4, 2010.
In the artists’ own words, “8 black and white portraits of literature-inspired tattoos. From Rilke to Gaiman, from Slaughterhouse Five to the Bible.” Now that’s an eclectic mix.
From some of the photographs I’ve seen the show will be one awesome display of black and whites-perfectly reproduced in very large format. Just check out the teaser photograph above from the invite.
CANON EXPO TOKYO, JAPAN NOVEMBER 2010
Tokyo is not so far from Manila but expensive to go and not to mention difficult to get a visa for Philippine passports. I would love to experience the Canon Expo first hand but due to other obligations it’s a no go.
A better alternative would be “Canon Expo 2010, a “must” for all Canon enthusiasts”, from Akihabara News. Head on over to their site to view all the photos from the Expo.
COVERING A 90th BIRTHDAY

The cake topper says it all. The colors red and gold to celebrate 90 years. It was both an honor and a pleasure to have covered such an important event.

Going over the guest list to make sure everyone has a seat. A celebration this big is always hard work.

Double happiness and the baker making sure the cake is as perfect as it should be.

The celebrant making sure the family and guest are all having fun!

Entertainment in a beautiful package.

Guest looking over a slide-show of scanned photos from another time.

A photo from the late 40's presenting 4 generations of the family's women.

A choral entertaining the guest during dinner.

One of the videographers recording a speech by the eldest son.

The celebrant receiving a bigger than life birthday card from his children.

Before the party ends, sweet buns are given out to the guest for good luck.

Party's over-til next year.
VERY COOL FIND DURING A BUSY WEEK
This will be pretty much an editing/post processing week. Have a few thousand photos from events and product shots that need some attention. The screenshot below will serve as notice for the next few days.

After uploading my recent post Week-Ender #62 (Vanilla Kitchen) I checked my stats and noticed some readers were coming from Food Press. Curious as to how that happened I made an inquisitive tap and that brought me to just announced Food Press: Serving up the hottest dishes on WordPress.com. This is where all foodie articles and photos are featured and as luck would have it there it was. Thank you to WordPress for the help on promoting a foodie post. Great work as always.
VANILLA KITCHEN
2nd round to the cupcake saga and the contact info promised from the recent Sweet Desires post. These beauties are not only mouth watering but they are a feast for the eyes (ahem, photographed by moi on Canon EOS 7D with flash, camera left).
Without an assistant present I had them all to myself. Delicately posed in the middle of the night to sultry music playing in the background and still I couldn’t take a bite. If you do want some all to yourself, order away there’s nothing like custom made cupcakes to your liking. (Yes, the numbers and email addy works)

TREKKING MT. PINATUBO, PHILIPPINES

In June of 1991, a volcano in the Philippines erupted and some considered it to be the biggest eruption in living memory. Lahar flow covered much of the surrounding villages, towns and forest. Neighboring cities were carpeted in a layer of ash that put normalcy on hold for months. The eruption rendered 2 of the biggest US bases in Southeast Asia useless and affected the rest of the world through weather patterns.
