It’s been awhile.

Wedding Photography
Instructions from the church coordinator were: photographers and videographers must not stand in the Chancel (In church architecture, the chancel is the space around the altar in the sanctuary at the liturgical east end of a traditional Christian church building. It may terminate in an apse. -Wikipedia) area. Ok then I thought, Heidi and Mel will never ever have a photo of themselves kneeling in front of the priest listening to the sermon or saying their vows. Since I doubt the couple will ever go through this again- with utmost respect and good intentions, there just had to be some shots coming from that area.
I slowly inched closer to the off-limit area but surely my tall build didn’t help much as everyone in the church noticed this photographer doing what he wasn’t supposed to. But in hind sight, it was well worth it.
New Years Eve Panorama
The panorama to end 2010 from a recent wedding I covered in Baguio-City of Pines, Philippines.
The interior of St. Joseph the Worker Parish Church captured with Canon EOS 40D w/EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5. 3 quick hand held frames shot while the entourage was prepping for the walk down the aisle. RAW processed in DPP and final output in Photoshop.

WEDDING BELLS IN SAN AGUSTIN
San Agustin Church located inside the historic walled city of Intramuros in Manila

A wedding is undoubtedly one of the best stories waiting to be told photographically.
The couple being wed and the priest are the stars in this ceremony. Although the church serves as the backdrop it should not be just another background for the photographs.
The architectural significance of the church will transform any modern day wedding into an elegant procession of charm and substance. There is nothing like the grandeur of work by architects and artisans of a bygone era.
Completed in 1607 during the Spanish colonial period, San Agustin is the oldest standing church in the Philippines. No other surviving building has been claimed to pre-date this church. In 1993, San Agustin Church was declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, under the classification Baroque Churches of the Philippines. It had also been named a National Historical Landmark by the Philippine government in 1976.
As a photographer, capturing the principal subjects within the ambiance of the church is key. Along with the architectural highlights a beautiful story unfolds and memories are cherished for generations to come.
