Interior Panorama, Eastwood Mall, Libis

It was a quiet Monday morning and the plan was just to shoot a few interior images from different angles. The guys and gals who were prepping for the days operation happily vacated the premises to allow for the full view of the restaurant. Not to pass up the splendid opportunity, it was panorama time.

The first image is the view when one enters the restaurant. This panorama is made up of 16 images gently stitched, so to speak, together in Photoshop. The single images were first edited and processed in Lightroom 4 to get the exposures evenly across the entire set. The second shows the rows of tables to the right side of the entrance, is stitched together form 20 images with editing in the same software.

The frontage of Slappy Cakes is just bathed in natural sunlight but the rows of tables are set against a window facing a covered walkway without any natural light. A few of the images in the second set needed a 3 exposure stack to even out the lighting. No HDR on the stacked images, they were manually blended in Photoshop.

Get your vanity fix at Maldita’s own hair and beauty studio for full servicing.

Members of the Press and Media, as well as fashion bloggers and other prominent personalities have gathered to witness and join in this significant event. The salon blessing was officiated by Rev. Fr. Benedict Nyoni of St. Paul The Apostle Parish Church, followed by the ceremonial ribbon cutting made by Madame Emelda Teng with special guests, Gen. Manager of L’Oreal, Yunos Koswara and Brand Ambassador for Maldita Studio, Dr. Hayden Kho, Jr. -Maldita Studio

Excellent food and drinks were catered by Mango Tree Bistro.

Maldita Studio is located at Ground floor, 75 Panay Avenue, Quezon City.

A few weeks before the party I had a few hours to the studio to shoot the interior with a wide lens.

Time for a photography contest

Photography contests should be organized in such a way that photographers and their images are treated with respect and given due amount of exposure. Life Framer is the vision of Amaury and co-founder Ralph, both based in London and have put together a call for photographers to join. There is a small fee to enter but the photographs will have 3 weeks final exhibition in theprintspace an art gallery in London. Good luck.

Mac Dy Photography is not compensated in any way for this feature. Maybe I should join…

LIFE FRAMER  International Photography Award And Curated Exhibition – Call for talent!

Life Framer is a monthly photography award and curated exhibition for the present day. It’s a platform and community designed to source creative work and showcase outstanding photography. Our aim is to bring exposure to talented photographers from all over the world: your talent, your vision, your life.

Every month we make a call to arms to the photographic community to provide us with their photographs that best capture our theme. We shortlist our favorites, ask a guest judge to select their winners. Winners will have the chance to be exhibited in a gallery space in central London, to win cash prizes and to receive some great recognition and online presence along the way.

It’s been awhile.

2012 was a great shooting year. Projects came and went and I enjoyed every minute of it. Finally, the new Mac Dy photography portfolio site is up. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Learn to flash like pros do. Use the flash to its full potential.

There are a few slots left for November 8 and 9, my second flash seminar at Camera Cart Studios in Teachers Village. Just click on the Camera Cart link to get in touch with my main man Melvine or call/SMS 0928-7101211 or 0918-9171063. Or email cameracart@gmail.com.

The 2 day flash class will cater to those who want to understand the confusing inner workings of a DSLR flash gun. From a short history all the way to learning to control light with flash. After all, if there is no light no images can be made.

Below are just a few of the topics we will go over:
1. Demystifying flash terms and buttons on the flash gun.
3. Understanding light fall off.
2. Learn to bounce flash without a wall.
4. Learn to use your flash gun on and off the hot shoe-both with cable and wireless.
5. How to use flash in a variety to shooting scenarios.
6. Learn to use a flash stand and shoot through umbrella.
Etc. etc…

Charge the batteries and bring a camera with a hot shoe and a compatible flash gun as we go for a hands on approach in learning. Don’t have a flash gun? Don’t sweat it. Reserve your slot along with Camera Carts flash guns for rent both in Nikon and Canon systems. Pretty sure a discount is there. One last thing, get a slot Camera Cart members get a discount as well.

Finally, a new post.

How many of you still have the Canon EOS 50D and still love to shoot with it? This is the very last model in the xxD line without video and still made out of a metal frame but a camera this old will start to show its quirky nature. First it was the shutter button assembly failure. Brought it to canon and it was replaced within a day.

MacDy_50Dicb-8

My old reliable.

Now, when 2 fresh batteries (BP-511A) are loaded into the battery grip they would not last a day. The top LCD would start doing the blinking low battery dance. Or in some instance a recharged BP-511A are loaded and the camera does not turn on. Sound familiar?
Do not panic. There is probably nothing wrong with the BP-511As. Nor the 50D itself. But the internal clock battery has dried up and needs replacing. The CR-2016 can be purchased in most stores that supply wrist watch batteries.

MacDy_50Dicb-7

The original CR-2012 from the Canon EOS 50D

First, make sure the 50D is turned off. If a battery grip is attached, take out the BP-511As and detach the grip. Look into the 50D battery compartment and there is a little tiny plastic plate with a CR-2016 engraved on it.

The internal clock battery slot.

Make sure the brand spanking new CR-2016 is right where you need it. Once this is removed date and clock will revert to 0. Don’t worry continuous file numbering will not reset.
Then, by pressing on the grooves with a finger slowly slide out the battery panel. The little plastic battery tray should slide out with just a little bit of friction since the slot has not been moved for years. Then remove the dead CR-2016 and put in the fresh one. + goes on the side facing the BP-511A chamber. Battery brand will not be crucial to breathing new life into the camera. Just make sure the CR-2016 are new stock.

MacDy_50Dicb-4

Put a finger on the grooves and slide out the battery holder.

MacDy_50Dicb-5

Once the old is replaced with the new CR-2016 slide the battery back into the slot and push it down gently into the slot.

Then slide the little tray all the way back inside the slot. Insert the BP-511A into the battery compartment and, close and lock the compartment door. Turn on the camera and the adjust date and time screen will magically appear. Set to the appropriate time zone and the old EOS 50D will have another few years to go.

That is it. Simple, easy and without problems.

The 50D is now ready to go back into action.

On a side note, found Energizers near me and it only cost PHP50 (about US$1.00) for a pair.

Happy Holidays 2011

It’s that time of year again: to be with family, eat home cooked food(lots of it) and make pretend Santa brought all those goodies under the tree. There’s nothing like the wide eyed happy look of a kid opening presents.

The tree shot with Canon EOS 7D and processed in Photoshop CS5. Snow texture by Oh Joy Photography-thanks!

Merry Christmas, dear readers. Posting will resume in the next few days after all the food and drink gets digested.

It was late and suddenly the sky lit up with colors. The crackers snapped and banged for a few minutes. Lucky as the photo gear was set up nearby. A few twist and turns on the ball head got me these shots. Of course I had to drag the cam and tripod out on the balcony.

Captured with Canon EOS 7D, tripod, remote shutter release and processed with Lightroom 3.

Happy Holidays!
